Judgments Entered in First Drywall Trials, Two More Set for June

NEW ORLEANS - Judgments have been entered in the first two Chinese drywall cases to go to trial before MDL Judge Eldon E. Fallon. Hernandez v. Knauf Gips KG, et al., No. 09-06050 (E.D. La.); Germano v. Taishan Gypsum Co., Ltd., et al., No. 09-6687 (E.D. La.).

Judge Fallon issued judgments May 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana after rendering verdicts for homeowners in Louisiana and Virginia.

In April, Judge Fallon awarded seven Virginia families a combined $2.6 million for property damage resulting from Chinese drywall that was installed in their home. The verdict …
