Insurers Unite in Opposition to Transfer of Coverage Cases to MDL 2047

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Several insurers have joined in opposing a move by plaintiffs to transfer unrelated insurance coverage actions to the Chinese drywall products liability MDL. In Re: Chinese-Manufactured Drywall Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2047 (JPML).
In a motion filed April 30, four carriers led by Chartis Specialty Insurance Co. argued that a recent attempt by the drywall MDL Plaintiffs' Steering Committee to transfer all outstanding insurance-related declaratory judgment actions to MDL 2047 should be denied by the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation.
