RICHMOND, Va. - The Virginia Legislature has pre-filed a measure that would render the pollution, and related, exclusions inapplicable to Chinese drywall claims filed in the state.
According to a notice filed Dec. 18, Virginia's General Assembly intends to offer a bill that would nullify provisions in homeowners' and fire insurance policies that might otherwise bar coverage for claims related to defective drywall imported from or manufactured in the People's Republic of China.
The bill is expected to be introduced Jan. 13 and includes language that would prevent insurers from denying or limiting coverage for drywall claims based on exclusions …
