MOBILE, Ala. - An Alabama state court drywall case that was slated for trial in March has been removed to federal court after the lawsuit was amended to add class allegations on behalf of hundreds of plaintiffs. Loftis v. Knauf International GmbH, et al., No. 09-837 (S.D. Ala.).
Defendant Interior & Exterior Building Supply L.P. removed the case Dec. 31 to U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama, claiming that the new class allegations render the matter removable under the Class Action Fairness Act of 2005.
