Massive Omnibus Chinese Drywall Complaint Filed in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS - More than 2,000 plaintiffs have joined an omnibus class action against hundreds of defendants allegedly responsible for damages caused by defective Chinese drywall. Payton, et al. v. Knauf Gips KG, et al., No. 09-7628 (E.D. La.).

The 591-page complaint was filed Dec. 9 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana by members of the federal Chinese drywall MDL's Plaintiffs' Steering Committee and includes 529 subclasses of claims against defendants that manufactured, supplied, sold, imported or otherwise used defective drywall in the manufacture of homes throughout the Southeastern United States.
