NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Attorney General of Louisiana has filed a Chinese drywall lawsuit alleging that the defective product could end up costing the state millions in lost tax revenues and related expenses. The State of Louisiana ex rel. James D. ("Buddy") Caldwell v. Knauf Gips KG, et al., No. 2010-392 (La. Dist. Ct., Orleans Prsh.).
In a complaint filed Jan. 12 in Orleans Parish District Court, James D. "Buddy" Caldwell accuses drywall manufacturers, suppliers and installers of "proactively pushing" foreign drywall into Louisiana following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
