Chinese Drywall Disclosures Surface in Florida Real Estate Market

ORLANDO, Fla. - Realtors in Florida have started requiring parties to sign an addendum to home sales contracts indicating whether the seller has knowledge that the home is outfitted with Chinese or defective drywall.
The disclosures, which were issued May 9 by the Florida Association of Realtors, also provide buyers an opportunity to test the subject property for the presence of Chinese drywall, providing for a three-day grace period to rescind the contract if evidence of the problem drywall is found.
