WILMINGTON, Del. - Homeowners in subdivisions built by WCI Communities have been given extra time to file proofs of claim against the bankrupt developer after arguing that the bar date was set before many of them knew that Chinese drywall was used to build their homes. In Re: WCI Communities Inc., et al., No. 08-11643 (D. Del.).
Judge Kevin J. Carey of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware granted the Florida Chinese Drywall plaintiffs' motion on May 11, extending the date for filing claims from Feb. 2 to May 30.
