Discovery Deadlines Extended in Mass. Federal Reinsurance Case

BOSTON — A Massachusetts federal judge has extended discovery deadlines by two months in a case in which SPARTA Insurance Co. accuses Pennsylvania General Insurance Co. of breaching stock purchase and reinsurance agreements by failing to pay claims made under policies generating from SPARTA’s acquisition of American Employers Insurance Co.

In response to the parties’ joint motion to amend the deadlines, Chief Judge Dennis F. Saylor of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts ruled that fact discovery be completed by June 16 and motions for summary judgment be filed by Sept. 22.
