Goddard School Owners Sue Philadelphia Indemnity in Pa. Court for COVID-19 Coverage

PHILADELPHIA — A group of Goddard School preschool owners have filed a series of lawsuits against Philadelphia Indemnity Insurance Co. in Pennsylvania state court, demanding coverage for business interruption losses arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and related government closure orders.
In the complaints, filed on Nov. 17 in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas, plaintiffs say their all-risk policies “protect against catastrophic events, such as the one occurring now, involving the global COVID-19 pandemic that has resulted in the widespread, omnipresent, and persistent presence of COVID-19 in and around the insured properties, including adjacent properties.”
