Calif. Event Promoter Sues Vigilant Insurance for Coverage of COVID-19 Losses

SAN FRANCISCO — A California event promoter has sued Vigilant Insurance Co. for business income losses arising from government-ordered venue closures during the COVID-19 pandemic, arguing that it sustained “direct loss or damage to property,” as required by the policy.

In an Oct. 23 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Another Planet Entertainment LC says it was unable to use its insured locations for their intended uses and purposes, causing it to suffer substantial financial losses, including lost profits, commissions, and business opportunities.
