N.Y. Hotel Sues Affiliated FM for Coverage of COVID-19 Revenue Losses

NEW YORK — The owners of a historical Brooklyn, N.Y., hotel that provides student housing and retail space has sued Affiliated FM Insurance Co. for coverage of $9.6 million in losses it sustained when government COVID-19 “stay-at-home” orders issued in response to the COVID-19 pandemic adversely affected its revenue.

In an Oct. 22 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, St. George Hotel Associates LLC and Henry Clark Associates Inc. say their losses arise from physical loss or damage of insured property, triggering coverage under their all-risk policy.
