Law Firm’s COVID-19 Losses Fall Within Virus Exclusion, Calif. Federal Judge Rules

LOS ANGELES — A California federal judge has ruled that Travelers Casualty Insurance Company of America is not required to cover COVID-19-related business losses sustained by the law firm of Geragos & Geragos, ruling that the losses fall within the policy’s virus exclusion.

In an Oct. 19 order, Judge Philip S. Gutierrez of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California further held that Geragos & Geragos did not sustain “direct physical loss of or damage to property” as required by the policy.
