Gold’s Gyms Owner Sues Vantapro Specialty for Coverage of COVID-19 Losses

TAMPA, Fla. — The owner of several Southern California Gold’s Gyms has sued Vantapro Specialty Insurance Co., demanding coverage for business losses it sustained when it was forced to close its facilities in compliance with government stay-at-home orders issued in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a complaint removed to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Oct. 20, Gym Management Services Inc. contends that coverage is available under its policy’s Business Income (and Extra Expense) and Civil Authority provisions.
