PHILADELPHIA — A policy’s virus exclusion relieves Hartford Casualty Co. from liability for a law firm’s COVID-19-related business interruption losses, a Pennsylvania federal judge has ruled.

In a Sept. 30 order, Judge Eduardo C. Robreno of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania found the law firm’s losses fall squarely within the virus exclusion because plaintiffs’ “explicitly allege that their losses are caused by the Coronavirus.”
