Ralph Lauren Accuses Insurer of Fraudulently Limiting Coverage for COVID-19 Losses

TRENTON, N.J. — Retail giant Ralph Lauren Corp. has sued Factory Mutual Insurance Co. in New Jersey federal court, demanding coverage for losses arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, arguing that government closure orders caused insured “physical loss or damage” to property.

In an Aug. 7 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, Ralph Lauren, which says stay-at-home orders issued in the United States and abroad forced it to close retail locations around the world, directly impacting its operations, gross earnings and profit.
