TransRe Moves to Dismiss Suit Seeking Coverage for 2003 Nicaraguan Plant Fire

MIAMI — Transatlantic Reinsurance Co. has moved to strike an amended complaint filed by the owner of a Nicaraguan plastics factory who is seeking insurance coverage for a 2003 fire, arguing that the pleading was improperly filed.
In a March 11 motion filed before Judge Marcia Cooke in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, TransRe contends the amended complaint was filed without the reinsurer’s written consent and without leave of court.
