Self-Insurance Association Sues Ironshore for $8.9 Million in Reinsurance

SEATTLE — A public entities self-insurance association has sued Ironshore Indemnity Inc. for $8.9 million in reinsurance proceeds, seeking contribution for its settlement of police misconduct and excessive force claims brought against two Washington cities.

The complaint was filed on Jan. 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington by the Washington Cities Insurance Authority (WICA), which maintains that the settlement is covered by a reinsurance contract issued by Ironshore to the association.
