BOSTON — A Massachusetts federal judge has confirmed a confidential arbitration award in a dispute over reinsurance coverage for sexual molestation claims filed against the Boy Scouts of America.
On Nov. 16, Judge Denise Casper of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts granted a motion by Certain Underwriters at Lloyd’s London to confirm the award. The other party to the arbitration, Century Indemnity Co., did not oppose confirmation.
Underwriters subscribed to General Casualty Reinsurance Agreements, in effect from 1963 through 1967 (“Treaty 101,” collectively) and Blanket Excess of Loss Covers, in effect from 1968 through 1970. …
