Reinsurers to Appeal Dismissal of RICO Claims in Battle Over Texas Car Dealer’s Estate

EL PASO, Texas — Two offshore reinsurers and their owner are appealing a Texas federal court’s dismissal of their RICO claims asserted against a now deceased Texas car dealer’s employees in a battle over his estate.

According to an Oct. 9 notice of appeal filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, Richard C. Poe II - individually and derivatively for Dick Poe Motors LP and Dick Poe Dodge LP - Caribbean Reinsurance Ltd., and Archipelago – Performance Ltd. will appeal the ruling to the 5th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.
