LOS ANGELES — A California federal judge has confirmed an arbitration award issued in favor of Applied Underwriters Captive Risk Assurance Co. (AUCRA) in a workers’ compensation coverage dispute, noting the policyholder defendant did not timely oppose the motion to confirm.
In the June 25 order, Judge James V. Selna of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California explained that the Federal Arbitration Act requires a court to confirm an arbitration award in the absence of a timely motion to vacate or modify.
