N.Y. Federal Judge Sends Beechwood Re Trust Asset Dispute to Arbitration

NEW YORK — A New York federal judge has ordered arbitration of a dispute in which two insurers have accused the principals of Beechwood Re of mishandling reinsurance trust assets, finding it falls within the scope of the arbitration clause in the reinsurance agreements at issue.
On March 15, Judge Edgardo Ramos of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York concluded that the agency relationship between the individual defendants and Beechwood Re is sufficient to invoke the reinsurance agreements’ arbitration provisions.
In 2013, Scott Taylor and Mosche Feuer formed Beechwood Re, a life and annuity reinsurer. …
