UTICA, N.Y. — A New York federal judge has made a number of evidentiary rulings in a reinsurance action set for trial this month, holding in part that former Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. employee Garrett Redmond may not testify as an expert witness because he does not have first-hand knowledge of the contracts at issue.

In a Nov. 16 order, Judge David Hurd of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York further held that Utica may offer the testimony of Andrew Maneval, and Fireman’s Fund may present the testimony of Robert Hall. The expert testimony will …
