ATLANTA — Canal Insurance Co. has opposed an SGA Re shareholder’s emergency motion to intervene in its lawsuit against Golden Isles Reinsurance Co., arguing that it is merely “a belated litigation tactic” intended to impede the progress of the case.

In its Nov. 7 response filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, Canal further argues that movant Joyce J. Duckett fails to set forth facts that would justify a six-month extension of the discovery period.
