R&Q Files Amended Answer to St. Paul’s Counterclaims in Pa. Federal Reinsurance Action

PHILADELPHIA — A Pennsylvania federal judge has allowed R&Q Reinsurance Co. to assert a statute of limitations defense to breach of contract counterclaims filed by St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Co. in a reinsurance dispute.

In a Sept. 20 order, Judge Berle Schiller of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania accepted R&Q’s amended answer, in which it argues that St. Paul’s counterclaims are barred by both Pennsylvania's and Illinois' statute of limitations for breach of contract.
