COLUMBIA, S.C. — Companion Property and Casualty Insurance Co. has asked a South Carolina federal court to impose discovery sanctions on a bank accused of mishandling reinsurance funds, arguing that the bank has failed to preserve relevant evidence.

In a heavily redacted motion filed June 17 before Judge J. Michelle Childs of the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, Companion argued that it has been prejudiced by U.S. Bank’s destruction of evidence because it prevented Companion from reviewing U.S. Bank’s internal correspondence.
