Mass. Federal Judge Orders Lamorak to Turn Over Certain Reinsurance Certificates to Everest Re

BOSTON — A Massachusetts federal magistrate judge has ordered Lamorak Insurance Co. to turn over certain of its reinsurance certificates to Everest Reinsurance Co. in a dispute involving the cedent’s allocation of asbestos losses to its reinsurers.

However, in the May 26 order, Magistrate Judge Donald L. Cabell of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts limited the production to reinsurance certificates for the few similarly situated reinsurers within the same block as Everest Re.
