R&Q Says $1.47 Million California Federal Reinsurance Action Belongs in Illinois

SAN FRANCISCO — R&Q Reinsurance Co. says a $1.47 million reinsurance action filed by The American Insurance Co. in California federal court belongs in Illinois because R&Q is not “at home” in California and lacks the requisite “minimum contacts” with that state.
In a Nov. 15 motion to dismiss filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, R&Q asserts that the action should be dismissed for want of jurisdiction under Rule 12(b)(2).
