Travelers Resists Century’s Efforts to Compel it to Produce In-House Counsel Communications

HARTFORD, Conn. — Travelers Insurance Co. has opposed Century Indemnity Co.’s efforts to compel it to produce communications with its in-house counsel regarding a reinsurance billing arising from Travelers’ settlement of asbestos claims asserted against Crane Co., arguing that the communications are privileged.
In an Oct. 31 brief filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, Travelers further maintains that Century’s proposed motion to compel Travelers to produce the communications is untimely because it was submitted more than 30 days after the due date of the discovery response.
