N.C. Federal Judge Compels Arbitration of Casino Construction Dispute

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — A North Carolina federal judge has stayed a lawsuit arising from a casino construction project and compelled arbitration, noting the court had already considered and rejected the arguments against arbitration in a related lawsuit involving the same parties and contract.

On Sept. 26, Judge Martin Riedinger of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina also denied as premature a subcontractor’s argument that the arbitration panel lacks jurisdiction to hear the dispute.
