BOSTON — Applied Underwriters Inc. (AUCRA) is appealing a Maine federal judge’s ruling that an arbitrator, rather than the court, should decide whether a reinsurance dispute is arbitrable because the parties “clearly and unmistakably” contractually agreed that such issues should be arbitrated.

AUCRA filed the appeal on Sept. 20 in the 1st Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.
