Celanese Opposes Resolute’s Motion to Dismiss Amended Claims in Texas Action

DALLAS — Celanese Corp. says it has sufficiently pled amended tortious interference with contract and declaratory relief claims against Resolute Management Inc. in connection with Resolute’s alleged control of the defense and settlement of underlying asbestos exposure lawsuits.

In its Aug. 11 opposition to Resolute’s motion to dismiss the claims, Celanese says Resolute has ignored the substantive additions and clarifications made in the amended pleading and ignores that Celanese has never conceded the existence of a valid agency between OneBeacon America Insurance Co. and Resolute.
