Indiana Bureau Permitted to Intervene in Coverage Action to Protect Interests of Reinsurance Pool

CHICAGO — An Illinois federal judge has allowed Indiana Compensation Rating Bureau (ICRB) to intervene in a worker’s compensation coverage action involving a member of its assigned risk reinsurance pool, ruling that the bureau has shown it has a direct and significant interest in the outcome.

However, in the Jan. 26 order, Judge Amy J. St. Eve of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois denied ICRB’s motion to transfer the action to Indiana, finding the claims and do not have a substantial connection to that forum.
