Celanese Corp. Sues Resolute Management in Texas for Interference of Contract

DALLAS — Celanese Corp. has sued Resolute Management Corp. in Texas court, accusing the third-party claims administrator of wrongly denying insurance coverage for underlying asbestos injury lawsuits in order to limit the reinsurance liability of its parent company, National Indemnity Co. (NICO).

Defendants removed the complaint, which also names OneBeacon America Insurance Co. as a defendant, to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas on Nov. 30. The lawsuit was originally filed in the Dallas County District Court.

Celanese was named as a defendant in four lawsuits pending in South Carolina state court. The plaintiffs in these …
