R&Q Urges Ill. Federal Judge to Deny St. Paul’s Motion to Transfer Reinsurance Action to Pa.

CHICAGO — R&Q Reinsurance Co. has opposed St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Co.’s motion to transfer a reinsurance declaratory judgment action to Pennsylvania, arguing that “a very substantial part of the events giving rise to R&Q’s declaratory judgment action occurred” in Illinois.

In a Nov. 24 opposition filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, R&Q refutes St. Paul’s allegation that it engaged in “forum shopping” by filing the action in Illinois, asserting that the parties have significant contacts to that district.
