Transfercom Opposes Pine Top Receivables’ Motion to Remand Illinois Reinsurance Action

CHICAGO — Transfercom Ltd. has opposed Pine Top Receivables of Illinois’ motion to remand a $181,555 action, arguing that the service of suit clause in the reinsurance agreement at issue does not obligate Transfercom to abide by the cedent’s choice of forum.
In its Nov. 16 response filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Illinois, Transfercom maintains that the clause merely requires overseas reinsurers to subject themselves to jurisdiction in the United States.
