DETROIT — Westport Insurance Co. has amended its counterclaims in a dispute involving primary and umbrella reinsurance, seeking return of $98,757.86 in claim expenses and $1,148,246.71 in bad faith losses it paid its cedent, Michigan Millers Mutual Insurance Co.

In the May 6 filing in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, Westport also seeks a declaration that it is not liable for costs MMMIC incurred in defending a bad faith action asserted against it by its policyholders.
