Seaton Asks R.I. Federal Court to Enforce Reinsurance-Related Settlement Agreements

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Seaton Insurance Co. has accused Yosemite Insurance Co. of breaching two agreements entered into by the parties in settling a reinsurance lawsuit by failing to pay billings submitted under the agreements.
According to the Feb. 6 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island, Yosemite has refused to pay $113,796 in billings submitted by Seaton under the agreements.
Yosemite had issued Seaton's predecessor, Unigard Mutual Insurance Co., eight facultative reinsurance treaties covering excess umbrella liability policies issued by Unigard to Air Products and Chemicals Inc., Champion International Corp., El Paso Natural Gas …
