Cal-Regent Seeks Discovery on Breach of Contract Issue in Commissions Dispute

HARTFORD, Conn. — Cal-Regent Insurance Services Corp. has asked a Connecticut judge to conduct a discovery conference on the issue of whether Odyssey Reinsurance Co. breached certain reinsurance contracts by paying $4 million to settle a claim and then billing Cal-Regent in the form of a commission adjustment.
In a Dec. 19 brief filed before Judge Vanessa L. Bryant of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, Cal-Regent asserts that such discovery “is plainly relevant” to the question of whether Odyssey performed under the reinsurance contracts by complying with their claims articles.
