TIG Sues Irish Reinsurer for $2 Million in New Hampshire Federal Court

CONCORD, N.H. — TIG Insurance Co. has sued an Irish reinsurer in federal court for more than $2 million in reinsurance proceeds for an underlying settlement of claims arising from a California landfill.
In an Oct. 17 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire, TIG accuses EIFlow Insurance Ltd. of breaching a facultative reinsurance contract issued by the reinsurer’s predecessor.
According to the complaint, U.S. Fire Insurance Co. issued an insurance policy to Southdown Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates, effective from Dec. 1, 1982, to Dec. 31, 1986. The policy was cancelled on …
