Conn. Federal Judge Orders Cal-Regent to Comply with Discovery Requests in Commissions Dispute

HARTFORD, Conn. — A Connecticut federal judge has ordered Cal-Regent Insurance Services to comply with Odyssey America Reinsurance Corp.’s discovery requests in a battle over $2.74 million in commission adjustments.
In an Oct. 10 one-page order, Judge Vanessa L. Bryant of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut also awarded Odyssey Re $11,710 in attorneys’ fees and costs it incurred in filing the motion to compel.
Odyssey Re asserted in its Sept. 9 motion that Cal-Regent essentially ignored the reinsurer’s document requests and interrogatories served on June 16.
