PORTLAND, Maine — A Maine federal judge refused to vacate an arbitration award issued in favor of an energy supplier, finding the arbitrator did not manifestly disregard the law in finding that the defendant owed the full sum due under the remaining term of the parties’ contract.
On Aug. 22, Judge Nancy Torrenson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine further ruled that the arbitrator did not commit misconduct by denying the defendant further discovery on the issue of damages, explaining that it was given a fair hearing.
