Wausau Drops Action Accusing ACE of Improperly Appointing Arbitrator in Reinsurance Dispute

MADISON, Wis. — Employers Insurance Company of Wausau has voluntarily dismissed without prejudice its action against ACE Property and Casualty Co. in which it accused ACE of improperly appointing John Dore as Wausau’s arbitrator.
In the April 16 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, Wausau asserted that it had already properly appointed Spiro K. Bantis as its arbitrator.
According to the complaint, Wausau reinsured ACE’s predecessors under a reinsurance treaty effective Jan. 1, 1978, to Dec. 31, 1981 (“Treaty 1”). The treaty included an arbitration provision providing that “any dispute arising out this …
