CX Re Asks Judge to Stay/Dismiss Trenwick’s Action, Asserting Dispute is Arbitrable

HARTFORD, Conn. — CX Reinsurance Company Ltd. is urging a federal judge to stay or dismiss an action filed by Trenwick America Reinsurance Corp. seeking to restrain CX Re from proceeding with a reinsurance arbitration, asserting the matter should be arbitrated.
In its Sept. 11 answer to Trenwick’s complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, CX Re has also asked the court to compel arbitration of CX Re’s claims against Trenwick arising from two reinsurance agreements.
