Excalibur Joins Travelers in Asking Court to Seal Documents Referencing Ferro Deposition

HARTFORD, Conn. — Excalibur Reinsurance Corp. has asked a Connecticut federal judge to seal certain materials referencing the deposition transcript of its claims supervisor Diane Ferro, asserting it contains “sensitive business information” that should be kept confidential.
In its Aug. 26 motion, Excalibur contends the information discusses its general business practices and business relationships with cedents.
Two insurers sued an insurance/reinsurance broker for losses they incurred in connection with the PA LMX Spiral. The broker turned to Gulf for coverage. As Gulf’s successor, Travelers entered into a confidential settlement with the broker and placed a $1,573,800 reinsurance claim with Excalibur. …
