NEW YORK — American Home Assurance Co. has asked a New York federal judge to appoint an umpire to oversee its reinsurance arbitration with Employers Insurance Company of Wausau, asserting the parties have reached an impasse in the umpire selection process.
In its petition, which was removed to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on July 23, American Home argues that it has appointed three umpire candidates, but Wausau has refused to name its own candidates despite American Home’s repeated requests.
