MIAMI — Two reinsurance brokers accused of overcharging a Costa Rican insurer commission may present expert testimony from a London reinsurance broker as to reinsurance custom and practice in the London reinsurance market, a Florida judge has ruled.
In an April 24 ruling from the bench, Judge Beth Bloom of the Miami-Dade County (Fla.) Circuit Court explained that such evidence is relevant because it will educate the jury “on what happens in the reinsurance industry.”
