Allianz Asks N.Y. Judge to Compel National Casualty to Arbitrate Reinsurance Dispute

NEW YORK — Allianz Global Risks US Insurance Co. has asked a New York state judge to compel National Casualty Co. to arbitrate a reinsurance dispute, asserting the arbitration should proceed with the two arbitrators Allianz has appointed because National Casualty did not appoint its arbitrator on time.
In a May 1 petition filed in the New York County Supreme Court, Allianz contends the reinsurance contracts at issue required National Casualty to appoint an arbitrator within 60 days of the arbitration demand, which National Casualty failed to do.
