Travelers Ordered to Comply with Excalibur’s Discovery Requests in Conn. Reinsurance Dispute

HARTFORD, Conn. — A Connecticut federal judge has ordered Travelers Insurance Co. to comply with Excalibur Reinsurance Corp.’s requests for discovery concerning the dates in which underlying claims were first asserted against Travelers’ insured.
On April 8, Senior Judge Charles Haight Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut ruled that the follow the settlements clause in the reinsurance treaty at issue does not preclude Excalibur from challenging the reasonableness of Travelers’s allocation.
