HARTFORD, Conn. — Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. has denied allegations that it has wrongly refused to pay $1.86 million in reinsurance proceeds to Travelers Casualty and Surety Co. (NYSE: TRV) for its settlement of asbestos claims asserted against E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co.
In its March 4 answer filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, Fireman’s Fund contends Travelers has wrongly refused to allow the reinsurer access to records concerning the underlying DuPont litigation and settlement.
